Item: Sony WM-10 take-up reel replacement gear ring

This spare part solves famous take-up reel gear crack problem. Now, anyone can fix the gear himself, quickly and easily.  This is  a snap-in design. Just remove the old black cracked gear and instal the new one. The gear has a special groove on the inner side of the ring, to enable perfect fit. The gear is 3D printed on the printer with 0.01 mm accuracy. Material used is ABS-like resin. The surface is smooth and very accurate, almost indistinguishable from the original.

The price is for ONE gear ring only, the metal disc and other parts are not included. In the product picture, they’re displayed for illustration purposes only.

We spent a lot of time to find suitable design and dimensions. However, only time will show how stable this material is. I printed some other gears from it, after a half year of daily use, they show no signs of wear. This is the reason why we sell this gear as for TESTING purposes only. The price is very low and it does not cover the real design and material cost. However, in case of this gear we do not accept returns. If you are not OK with it, please do not buy this ring.

Unlike modern electronics, your player was built to last for decades. However, even this player contains some parts that deteriorate and you need to replace them. Most probable reasons of cassette player failure

• Aged belt – needs to be replaced, there is no other help.
• Pinch roller – clean it well with IPA. If it doesn’t help, then you need to replace it.
• Corroded battery contacts – clean them well
• Volume pot oxidized – there are special sprays for that purpose. Apply only small drop, do not spray everything

Other: leaked capacitors, cracked plastic parts, old grease and oil turned into glue, dirty switches, dirt inside player, worn head (can be lapped), faulty electronics, damage caused by leaked battery, dry motor bearings

After each repair of cassette player, speed must be adjusted!
